American Public Library Association is a huge resource in the library science field. Focusing mainly on Youth Services I spend a lot of time reviewing and reflecting on the values they place on Youth Services.\u00a0I personally place a lot of value in youth services role a Librarian plays in the community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Educause <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Non-profit organization I recently came across. Their motto is to “advance higher education through the use of information technology.”\u00a0They promote diversity and the furthering of education by continually challenging it professionals to think outside the box. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded by George Lucas this organizations goal is to help children k-12 apply the knowledge they learn not only in schools but carry that knowledge with them into their futures. This organization is dedicated to keeping up to date with trends and pursue new ways of educating children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Library with the Lead Pipe<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peer reviewed journal the publishes content from other professionals. Run by a team of librarians this site helps professionals stay current on all trends and updates in the field. It’s a personal favorite of mine and would be a dream organization to be apart of. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

American Libraries Magazine<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

American Libraries Magazine is a great product for information on a multitude of topics. The site regularly issues articles on a large array of subjects. American Libraries Magazines also has a podcast platform “call number” that listeners can use to get insightful information on anything from financial literacy to who’s competing in this years national spelling bee. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

School Library Journal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This site provides tons of books reviews, and reading lists for professionals to use in the classroom. The material is extremely useful professionals to select books for young adult readers and provides useful guides lines for book choices. The site also provides information on Censorship in the field. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virginia Library Association <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Virginia Library Association is a useful tool for professionals in all over world. I have often used the site to look and potential careers. The site displays current issues Virginia is facing in the literary world. At its core, the organization’s purpose is to aid and improve libraries and library staff in Virginia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Good Reads <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a personal favorite of mine. Goodreads is my go-to for books reviews and suggestions. You are limited to so “free” articles but one can make an account for free. The site will keep a list of recommended books for you as you rate books you have read. I have found this makes a useful resource when looking for books to recommend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kirkus Reviews<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My second go-to site for book reviews. Kirkus prides themselves on honest reviews of books. Reviews are written by industry professionals and journalists. The site is also a great tool for writers who are looking to establish themselves in the literary world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outdoor Alliance for Kids <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have a passion for the outdoors and encouraging kids to spend time outside and away from technology. This a great organization to find ideas for engaging outdoor activities for children. This is useful tool for Librarians and parents who are looking to increase their children’s curiosity with nature. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
