“With the right words, you can change the world”
Charlottes Web by E.B. White

Hey, I’m Laura!
I am a graduate student seeking a master’s degree from Old Dominion University in Library and Information Studies. I am a current high school math teacher, I just completed my 18th year teaching. I currently teach Algebra 2 and Probability and Statistics to Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors. I am looking to broaden my resume and extend my knowledge and experience through this program. I choose Old Dominion University due to their asynchronous program. I am able to tackle classes from home while still being a full time mother, wife, and teacher.
Reading is a lifelong skill. I have a passion for reading and increasing knowledge. Literacy is so important on all grade levels whether it is a beginning kindergarten student or a retired adult. Reading helps us grow. It helps us expand our minds and give us new ideas. Reading helps me relieve stress. Reading helps enhance vocabulary, memory and concentration. I am a mother to a 4 and 6 year old and I look forward to sitting down at the end of the day with them and reading a book. It takes us to different worlds, it makes us laugh, and best of all it binds us together.
I am tentatively scheduled to finish this program in December of 2023, this is currently my first semester. This ePortfolio provides examples of the many tools Old Dominion has taught and instilled in me. I hope that you can find examples of growth and documentation through this ePortfolio.
Laura
