Manchester City Library in Manchester, New Hampshire
I am going to apologize in advance for this visit’s blog. While the rule of 3 clicks isn’t necessarily true any longer, there certainly is truth in its essence; that a website should be easy to navigate. Thus, my blog is about my experience virtually visiting Manchester City Library.
Oh my goodness. I don’t even know what to say about their website except “yikes!” Honestly, I expected the library site I visited (https://www.baycountylibrary.org/) to be closer to this because it’s from a pretty small town, but it was actually a very modern website. Even my hometown, which is only 40,000 or so in somewhat rural Ohio, has a better library site (https://www.findlaylibrary.org/). The aesthetics are dated like the Manchester City library site, but at least it has more modern functionality.
Your disappointment in your virtual visit to Manchester City’s library site reminded me of my disappointment in my exterior visit to Norfolk Public Library’s Janaf branch. It is such a shame when a library that can be a great resource is underutilized because patrons are put off before they even walk through the door. It doesn’t matter if the library has the best collections and librarians in the world if people aren’t enticed to come.
It’s also such a shame that you couldn’t find out much about the bookmobile since it was the aspect mentioned in the article and what drew you to “visit” in the first place!
