Presentation

I used emaze to create the below presentation.

I focused on using different effects to make the messages pop. I also focused on how many seconds in between each slide. If I was using this in a school setting then I would probably give more time between each slide for students to read.

  • + Similar to PowerPoint
  • + Variety of background options
  • + Special effects and colors available
  • + Can also create blogs, webpages and e-cards
  • – Not as many fun templates as other sites.
  • – No onsite pictures (although Flicker is coming soon)

Most of the sites were easy to sign in with Google. And there were a lot of similarities. Some overall concerns were; the need to upgrade to get more options, the lack of privacy in creating using your Google or a free account and the ability to share without the upgrade.

Here are some of the things I liked and didn’t like about the other sites:

Canva

  • + Lots of templates
  • + Colorful and bright choices
  • + Easy to use. Pick a template and type in information
  • + One stop shopping for infographics, blogs, presentations, etc. Would be worth an investment for amount that can be done.
  • – Could be limiting if templates, don’t match your theme

Smore

  • + Offers templates in a step by step format.
  • + This type of set up would be easy for someone that didn’t want to create a lot and wanted a fill in blank option
  • + Newsletter format is professional and offers different types.
  • – Limited without upgrade for template choices.

Haiku Deck

  • + Creative common photos and lots of them. Seems to have the most photos available on site.
  • + Does have special pricing and dedicated teacher site content.
  • + Works with Google classroom
  • – Had a hard time logging in
  • – Large focus for businesses. Great for businesses but not as much for teachers, unless a teacher is a business teacher.

I like how you made the pros and cons of each site so easy to read at a glance!

What Kelly said!! Also, I love your summer vacation details. 🙂 You had way more success with Emaze than I did.

I didn’t realize Haiku Deck is also designed for Google Classroom integration. That alone could be a very convincing reason to try it again even though I couldn’t get it to do a single thing first time around.

I also like your plus and minus feedback of these sites! Reading for fun! What a glorious sound. Textbooks aren’t quite the same I also used emaze for my presentation! Pretty easy to use and inviting. Nice work!

It seems most programs online require pricing plans. Though I know some schools do pay for certain services for academic use. If you had a choice, which would you choose if you could access any of the paid services?
