Sarah, I love your presentation. I have yet to visit all of the Virginia Beach Public Libraries. This library looks nice, new, and accessible to it’s users. I like that there is a drive thru! The Oceanfront Area Library is close to my house and it’s being renovated right now. I can’t wait to see it’s updates!
Hi Sarah! I live right around the corner from the Kempsville Area Library, but I have not been to the Princess Anne branch yet — I even rode right past it tonight on my way home! I find it interesting how you noted how “practical” the building was; that was one of the points I raised in my reflection about the Slover Library in Norfolk. Though that building may be flashy and modern, it is not very practical like the public libraries in your neighborhood and mine! I find the automatic return function very interesting and useful, especially for the pandemic! Even cooler is the drive-through option and the involvement in the community through outreach and Safe Place programs…that is awesome!
Great presentation! The library looks like it’s in a good area and easy to get to. It’s such a nice, modern building with clean architectural lines–really practical, as you pointed out. I also love the drive-thru! I don’t think we have those as much here in New England, at least not not at the libraries near me. It looks so convenient! Everything looks so spacious and open. I like that there’s a lot of green space for activities. Great signs, too! But that one you mentioned is a little confusing, since it doesn’t specify that just the rec center is closed. Still, it looks very inviting.
