This image came from Unsplash, another easy website to search for and find inviting images. All images are free for commercial and non-commercial purposes and can be edited. Then I used Pixlr to add text to my uploaded image. It was easy to use and fun to play with. I would use these tools to add to fun to a school newsletter or flyer advertising a book sale.

When deciding on a font I wanted to choose something that was inviting to look at and easy to read. And while my actual blog is for my graduate degree at ODU, everything that I am doing is with school children in mind. The Sans Family is more accessible for a younger audience and works well in multiple sizes. I chose to use 3 different fonts on my blog, all within the same family and style. My main text will be Open Sans. I hope that this will be appealing and not overwhelming to look at. I prefer the clean lines and feel that Open Sans matches my organized personality.

Throughout the MLIS Program, you may be required or choose to create blog entries. These may be part of assignments or they may include your own professional reflections. This blog is an opportunity for you to reflect on your work.

There’s more information about “Blogging” Using Posts from ODU’s ePortfolio tutorials.

The entries for your blog when you open the ePortfolio template are “Uncategorized.” You may need or want to adjust these settings at a later date. You should delete this ‘post’ when you are ready to begin and/or publicize your blog.
