Resources

Archivists constitute a subset of librarianship focused on the preservation and management of records and acquisitioned collections. This work generates associations, journals, and membership that is often separate from the broader field that support the work and interests of those within archives and special collections in libraries, museums, and in private organizations. The resources found here reflect professional interest areas and state of the field research as well as networking opportunities that will provide support and educational advancement as I move forward in the MLIS program and in my career.

Society of American Archivists

The SAA is one of the largest organizations for archivists and records managers. It produces two journals, a blog, and a host of resources and networking opportunities for members. Membership in the SAA will keep me in contact with the archival community in the United States and up to date on the state of the field as all archivists address the changing needs of our communities. The SAA will be a platform for connecting.

On Archivy – Medium

On Archivy is an open platform blog published outside of mainstream organizations that utilizes its voice to discuss topics related to the world of archives and digital information. This is beneficial because its less structured approach creates a passionate, but casual, place to converse with others related to the field. It also helps to understand the limits that exist for archivists outside of the mainstream.
