Cyber Security Career Connections Event

This is my reflection of the event:
The Cyber Security Career Connections event was a great experience. I saw a variety of employers offering a variety of opportunities. I visited Nasa, the FBI, CHKD, and a navy command booth. They were all very interesting and provided a plethora of information. The 2 tables that stuck out to me the most were Nasa and the navy command booth. The Nasa employee provided the most unique and interesting experience. He introduced us to a former Nasa intern. He explained that due to her performance she will get a job offer. He told me there are multiple internship offers at Langley and other campuses across the country. He told me that the NSA codebreaker challenge is a great item to put on your resume. The navy command booth also presented a great opportunity. They presented an internship that would be year round. It would increase your time in college, because it would a 52 week program. However, it seemed like a great program. The internship would take place either in Norfolk naval or Chesapeake.

CyberOps

This was my reflection of the event:
The Cyber ops conference this weekend was a fun experience. I was there from around 11:30 to 2. I went with some friends and found, even more, when I was there. We initially tried to start a team of 8 but found out the maximum team size was 4. We split into 2 teams and started the capture the flag challenge. I thought it was incredibly cool that there were prizes, especially because of what they were. There were drones, hard drives and 2-factor authentication devices. There were a lot of cool, interesting questions that lead me to leave with more knowledge than I came. I had to use Wireshark for the networking questions, which I had never used before. There was also a question where you had to convert decimal numbers into binary. Unfortunately, I forgot how to convert to binary, so one of my teammates researched how to do it. This made me realize something I should touch up on. The questions that required Linux were confusing and in my opinion the hardest questions I encountered. Unfortunately, we were not able to solve them but it was a great experience. I thought it was especially cool that the FBI was at the conference.
