I am going to start this ePortfolio entry discussing a major that is very connected to the world of cybersecurity and that is computer sciences. I would not classify these two subjects as the same thing because there are some inherent differences. Computer science refers more to computers as a whole and has a much broader range than cybersecurity. Cybersecurity does fall under computer sciences though, it just focuses more specifically on the security aspect of computer science. Cybersecurity also relates to a major in business analytics. Business analysts deal with data and information that is susceptible to being hacked.  Cybersecurity would be an important asset to have as a business analyst in order to protect sensitive information from getting hacked. Business analysts also deal with technology in a company and should have a risk assessment done to see their cybersecurity weakness. Companies and businesses need cybersecurity in order to protect their financial and business information. Enterprise cybersecurity is a major that directly correlates with cybersecurity. This major blends business and cybersecurity into one. I have touched on the correlation between business and cybersecurity in some of my other examples and entries, but this major really shows the meshing of the two fields. Enterprise cybersecurity focuses on instilling the importance of cybersecurity in the field of business and teaching skills such as programming and cybersecurity in a business setting. This major illustrates the importance of cybersecurity to individuals in the business world. Cybersecurity can also be important in journalism. While a journalism major is slightly different than some of the previous majors I have listed, cybersecurity is still very important when it comes to protecting writers and their sources. Journalists have often been targets of attacks because their stories have been unpopular or disagreed with, but that does not mean it isn’t important to protect the content of their work. In modern times, articles are posted online and are vulnerable to hackers altering the writer’s work. Cybersecurity helps to protect the work of journalists.
