Technology has evolved and been advanced in order to make human’s lives easier. There have been some great advancements in technology that have made the world operate more efficiently and be a better place and more functionable place in general, but there are some technological advancements that haven’t panned out just like they were originally intended to. Just because humans develop a technology to function and perform a specific task a certain way, that doesn’t mean that it always will. Humans, to our credit, have made some technological advancements that have exceeded expectations, but have also had some with unintended consequences or effects on society. When approaching the development of new cybersecurity technologies, infrastructure, and cyber policies, we should start with a good base and foundation because of the “short arm” of predictive knowledge. If cybersecurity, cyber policies, cyber infrastructure, and cyber networks have a good foundation, that provides a good building block that can be built upon in the future when other areas, problems, risks, or threats may arise. Without a good building block established, it is much more difficult in the future when addressing problems that have arisen. With there being a “short arm” of predictive knowledge, we as humans do not know everything that is going to happen, and are unaware of technologies full capabilities sometimes, so in order to combat this weakness, a solid foundation must be established to build around. A good foundation in cyber policy and infrastructure along with solid training of employees and users provides a good way to address the “short arm” or predictive knowledge. Ultimately, humans don’t know everything and do not always fully understand what the technology they have created is capable of. A good foundation with solid cybersecurity and training is a good way to develop cyber policies and infrastructure that can combat the unknown element of cyber advancements and technology.
