When I first heard about the Fed-Up challenge, I was not looking forward to it. I’ve done keto in the past and felt horrible while doing it. I chose the relaxed set of rules for my challenge since it would be the easiest to juggle with my course load and schedule. The relaxed version of the challenge consisted of only consuming food that had reported “0g of added sugar”.
The challenge itself wasn’t heard. My normal diet doesn’t have a lot of added sugars in it. I was also able to eat whole foods that contained carbohydrates like baked potatoes. Which is way easier than keto, where you can’t have any carbohydrates. The hard part of the challenge was looking at labels. The feeling of wanting something then realizing it has 1-2 grams of added sugar is demoralizing. I found a love for apple sauce during this challenge. I would eat a serving of Mot’s (no added sugar) Granny Smith apple sauce for dessert or breakfast. They are so delicious. I’m happy I did the challenge. It gave me another reason why I wouldn’t do keto again. I like being able to have small additives that may contain added sugars like sauces. The day I felt sluggish was most likely due to lack of sleep. I felt good throughout the whole challenge.
