Reflection Paper #5
During the next 50 hours I spent working in the IT department at the College of William and Mary, I spent some of my days working on imaging and wiping computers as usual with other tasks in between. Later, Rick decided to start adding more responsibilities my way and showed me how to add the old equipment and computers that come in to be wiped into the surplus form. He also added me to certain forms that I can edit to keep stock of the inventory for the old and new equipment. Other tasks included utilizing one of the IT department’s vans to do deliveries of computers, paper, and/or toner cartridges to other buildings around the campus.
I started to interact with more people around the campus as I did these tasks and started learning about their jobs as well. Later, my boss started a project for a computer lab that was a couple of floors above me. He had wanted me to take twenty-one of the old computers that were turned in after the installation that took place during Spring Break and double the RAM inside of them and then add a specific image on them. After a couple of days of imaging those computers, I had finished them and then spent a day helping my manager install them in the computer lab.
