Reflection Paper #6
During the next 50 hours I spent working in the IT department at the College of William and Mary, I spent some of my time working on imaging new computers and wiping old technology that was brought in. We had a pickup of our surplus equipment done a few days ago, but during the week that Rick had gone on a vacation, the amount of stuff to be wiped and surplus had come flying in. Once Rick had come back, we started working on wiping and surplus everything that came in and cleaning up the room. By the time we were done, everything was sorted and we could walk around our room again without maneuvering around things.
Rick had decided to schedule another pickup as soon as possible as the surplus not only included the stuff in our office but a few other people’s offices and the storage room we have in the SWEM library’s basement. We began to fill out the surplus forms and continue our work on imaging the new computers that had come in. The next day a large shipment of toner cartridges had arrived and we had to unpack and store most of them on shelves until they were needed. Soon after that, I was tasked with delivering toner to the Wolf Law Library and diagnosing the problems it was having. After arriving and storing the toner cartridges, I looked at the printer and saw that the printer was having issues reading the toner cartridge. After reseating the toner cartridge, it worked fine until the next day. We looked at it again and believed that the printer needs maintenance and decided to call the company to send a maintenance kit out. Later, Rick and I had gotten word about a new project that was coming up soon and we are going to start working on it very soon.
