- Dental Hygiene
My intended major is dental hygiene, I chose this field of study because I like seeing everyone happy and smiling and when people are not comfortable with their smile or their teeth they don’t tend to smile as much. I have yet to gain much skills in my intended field of study although I am great with helping people so i believe that is going to be useful for me to be productive. I am looking forward to opportunities to do so while I am attending Old Dominion University. Preferably i would want to work in an environment where I can interact with different people. This is so that i can always attain more knowledge from my colleagues.
Parallel Major
Early Childhood Education
I chose this Parallel Major because having a ” BS in Early Childhood Education draws courses from across the University to prepare teacher candidates interested in teaching early childhood education.” Some things that interests me is because it gives me an opportunity to better enhance my skills with working with children and making a difference. some interesting facts about this major is that ” Course work spans the disciplines of English literature and composition; history; fine and performing arts; mathematics; natural sciences; social sciences; human growth and development; and educational foundations, technology, assessment, theory, and methods. ” A potential Carrier i can pursue with this major is being a Child Care Worker. This job would consist of me caring for “children when parents and other family members are unavailable. They care for children’s basic needs, such as bathing and feeding. They care for children in childcare centers, their own home, or the homes of the children in their care. ” I could gain more professional experience in this area of study by continuing to participate in the mentoring programs that are offered by Old Dominion through the Ignite program.
