Opportunities for Workplace Deviance
Cyber technology has created workplace deviance by the amount of control that employees may have over certain systems. It can cause issues such as data leaks. This can be caused by a not-so-thorough background check and deception among the employees. They could get the trust of the company just to gain access to sensitive information. You never truly know what someone’s intentions are when they come into the workplace. This can lead to information being sold to the wrong people such as credit card information, social security numbers, addresses, and so much more which can be a huge issue. One issue it may cause with some companies could be some sort of competition. Someone could get a job just to get information for another competing company which can cause a range of problems from just copying a product to something so much worse such as causing a bug or other security risk with the systems. The workplace could even be a scam center which would be deviant within itself and not necessarily against the company but this just causes risks for people they are able to scam by getting into computers and getting their phone numbers to try to trick people into giving them money or some other ransom demand. Say someone were to get fired from a company, the employers could terminate all access the fired employee has by cutting them off from the system but the person may have enough knowledge to be able to hack into the company’s system and cause severe damage as a for of retaliation. There are just so many ways the cyber technology workplaces can possibly cause deviance that it is always important to have a proper system to make sure nothing too horrible or irreversible will happen to the company and the information it has.
