After reading my first blog, I have realized that my expectations were met. I feel like I did well with achieving the objectives in this course but my strategies to achieving those goals could have been better. If I were to take this class again, I would take more time out to study and I would read each chapter until I understood the concepts. I think my thoughts about Social Psychology has deepened over this course because I never knew that there were so many ways that social behavior can be influenced. Over the past few months, I have learned how to stay involved in the topics at hand by doing weekly blogs or check ins. One thing that I have learned from this class that will help me in my professional life was time management. I chose this image because it displays student growth.

I have learned multiple things so far during this course. I learned about social norms, styles of love, the self. I have realized that the concept of heuristics from the first Assignment Takeaway could easily be connected to blogs five and six because of the use of stereotypes. I information that I learned about stereotypes can be connected to a theater class that I took in the past because we had to watch plays that focused on the stereotypes placed upon people of color. I chose this image because it shows how I reflect on what I have learned.

This article has really opened my eyes to the stages of a relationship and how sexual conflict can arise in those relationships. After reading the three stages of a relationship, I was able to easily connect it to reality. After reading slides one and two, I was able to come up with some ways men upset women and some ways women upset men. I think that men upset women by not communicating, being deceitful, and having the stereotype of cheating. Some ways that women can upset men are being too clingy, spending too much money, and having the stereotype of not being sexually driven. I chose this image because it shows how men and women can upset each other in a relationship.

I believe that self-regulation is a huge part of emotional intelligence because it is how you control your emotions. Emotional intelligence to me is the ability to control your emotions and acknowledge those of others to improve personal skills. I show my EQ by staying focused on meeting deadlines and achieving goals. I could improve my EQ by taking the time out to see what is truly meaningful in my life and what my values are. I chose this image because it shows my results on emotional intelligence.

After watching Jean Kilbourne’s, The Dangerous Ways Ads See Women, I have realized how ads treat women. This Ted Talk explains how ads dehumanize women and manipulate their appearances. In this Ted Talk, Kilbourne also explains the differences in genders in ads. This video also showed how women are normally photoshopped to look like characters while men normally look like humans. The men are normally photoshopped in ads to look stronger. They also disrespect women in ads to appeal the opposite sex. I chose these images because they show how ads treat women.

The ad above is perceived as credible because it states that it is the number one brand recommended by dentists. By stating this they are using the dentists as experts to make their product trustworthy. The also stated facts about their product which could also be credible.

The ad above is perceived as not credible because it gives deceptive information. It gives this by claiming that dentists would recommend this brand of cigarettes. This ad conveys that expert dentist recommend that smoking this brand is good for your health.

The ad above is perceived as attractive because they used a well-known personal trainer, Jillian Michaels, as the face of their product. I think that this source is effective because by using Michaels as the face, the viewers will think that if they buy this product, they will look like her.

I learned a few things from this process. I learned that my studying strategies are useful and could be improved. I also learned that reading over the chapters really helped me remember certain concepts. Before I took the exam, I looked over the notes from the different chapters. I also looked over the PowerPoints and quizlet flash cards that I made. This feedback will help me with future exams because it has showed me what strategies work for me. I chose this image because it represents one of the ways that I study.

I believe that most people create bonds with others through music. In my life, music has connected me with people that I never thought I would bond with. Music is a good way to create a bond because it allows you to express your ideals in life. I also think that music can help people become more open by allowing someone to share their style of music with someone else who might not be familiar with that style. I chose this image because it represents my list of people and what songs were connected with them.

The objectives in this course will help me in the future because it will help me understand how social behavior can be influenced by the way we perceive people. I expect to learn how behavior is affected by outside sources in this course. The strategies that I will use to be successful in this course will be studying, note taking, and time management.

I chose this image because it explains how the availability heuristic is used to make the decision based off a movie that if you swim at the beach then a shark will attack you.
