#DestinationJamaica

March 08 2019

It’s 4am and I am about to board my first flight ever. I’ve been everywhere on the East Coast, I’ve even been out of the country before but, I’ve never flown. Anxiety and excitement filled me as I entered the airport, especially when I saw my long time close friend and traveling partner in crime, Ari. We talked, got Starbucks, then proceeded to board our first flight. This flight only took us to Philly, our next flight will take us to Jamaica. 8 hours later, we finally touched down in my spiritual homeland, Jamaica. Going through customs was such an emb

arrassing hassle but, I was the only one in my group to get their passport stamped so that was a plus. Upon arrival to the UWI dorms we were rushed to get ready for our Welcome Dinner which was in 2 hours. Once I was finished styling and profiling we left the dorms and were met with traditional, authentic Jamaican food. Some of things we were luck enough to eat were jerk chicken and pork, festival, and rice and peas. Everything was so good. After we ate we sort of played a getting to know you ice breaking game where we learned that O’Daine can sing, haha. Finally, around 9pm we left to go back to the dorms where Ariyon and myself prepared to go out while everyone else went to bed. Although we are in Jamaica to learn and encourage the girls of the Women’s Center, we also came to have a good time! Around 12:30am we left out for what would be one of the best nights of my life. So far this trip is already panning out to be a good one.
