Why am I interested in Cybersecurity Technology? That is a very good question. Since I was little, I have always been fascinated by all things tech. Anything that could connect to the internet or be considered a “smart device,” best believe my hands would be all over it. As I began to grow older it was pretty clear that a career in IT would definitely be the best career route for me. It also made the most sense too; IT was a job field that was constantly growing, guaranteed to be here in the future, and came with high-paying jobs. Now the next question to answer for myself would be: What route in IT would I like to take? In all honesty, this answer didn’t become an answer to me until it was time for me to enter high school. My high school, Potomac Senior High School, offered a cybersecurity program, and as I listened to what the program was about, it began to pique my interest. Hearing about this growing job field, I became really interested and wanted to hop on the wave while it was still in its low tide. Not knowing much about cybersecurity, there were two things I did know myself. First, I wanted to make six figures, and pursuing a career in cybersecurity would help me achieve this goal. The next thing I knew was that I hated coding, kind of ironic considering I am entering a career field that is built on code. I don’t have a problem with coding, I will do It if I must, but to have a job that is solely based on coding is something I couldn’t do. On that note, I knew I would more than likely want to stray away from the engineering aspect of cyber and focus on the analytical side. At this point, I knew that I wanted to become somewhere along the lines of a Cybersecurity analyst/information security analyst. However, this isn’t the end goal for me; I want to keep elevating myself, achieve high-level government clearance, and earn over six figures. The cyber-world is constantly growing and in need of people with expertise in cybersecurity; many jobs are beginning to be created and open. Pursuing a career in cybersecurity and seeing how the field grows is something I want to be a part of.
