Journal Entry #9

Technology is a beautiful thing, and the advancements made to it have helped our society for the better. If our founding fathers were to see how much has been a time since their time, I’m sure they’d pass out. If Steve Jobs were to see that his company, Apple, has emerged as one of the global superpowers, I’m sure he’d shed a tear. We are living in a perfect era of AI, self-driving cars, etc. But as much as technology and computers are doing so much good for the world. Many can argue that it is also causing us harm.

Firstly, computers are impacting our social interaction with one another. Our faces are constantly being in front of some type of screen, and due to this our social interaction is steady decline. People can no longer hold conversations with one another; people would rather stay in their rooms and scroll through social media rather than go hang out with some friends or even exercise. It seems since the increase of technology, many people’s first instinct is to look at the screen first rather than interact with the person right next to them.

Even though there are cons to computers, there are also pros. Take for example in schools, the way computers have been able to innovate schools is breathtaking. Students are now able to experience learning in different limelights, there are computers that are programmed to accommodate to each student and help them become better learners. Computers are making learning fun and making our students more intelligent

Computers overall have allowed the world to be interconnected through technology, schools, businesses, etc. Computers allow us to communicate with each other in ways that we could’ve never imagined. Who would’ve thought that I would have a voice assistant that could tell me the weather outside or even tell me the traffic conditions on the interstate highway? Computers are constantly improving lives for the better.
