Apart from the work I do to develop myself professionally, I also want to showcase the work I do in school. Throughout my college experience, I have been involved in various student organizations. On this page, I plan to showcase those organizations and briefly discuss my roles within them.
Developing Men of Color

Developing Men of Color (DMC) is an organization that originated at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in 2018; the purpose of this organization is to help all men of color to develop themselves in every aspect regardless of their background. The mission is to achieve greatness through community service, academics, professional development, and social activities. I have many peers that attend VCU, and oftentimes, I hear about the great things DMC has done for them. I am a person who loves to help people, and I seek no profit or anything in return. Over the Summer of 2024, I finally found myself where I was in a position to effectively help others. I felt DMC very closely aligned with my beliefs and was also something that the men of color at ODU needed.
After working with VCU to understand DMC morals and principles, I am proud to say that as of September 2024, ODU Developing Men of Color is an official campus organization. Serving as one of the founding members and President, we are making it our goal to establish our campus presence and showcase what DMC has to offer. We’ve already held meetings and can proudly say that interest is there. I am excited for the future of DMC and if you aren’t familiar with it now, I recommend you familiarize yourself!
