Exploring Culture

There was a lot of Spanish practice that helped me understand the cultural perspectives. The discussion boards and readings were the most helpful. The videos were also a great help in my understanding.

The readings were very informative and descriptive. I got to understand what Spanish foods there are and many more. I also got an understanding of the different Spanish speaking countries.

Engaging in Communities

It is very important to engage with one another. This is how different ideas and cultures are learned. Engaging is a great way of finding a way to understand one another.

Being able to engage with a tutor is very helpful. I am bale to learn more and more. I’ve taken a lot of advice and I became better and better with learning Spanish by having a conversation with a tutor.

Interpersonal Communication

In the class we had assignments like Talk Abroad and other interpersonal oral/audio activities like discussion boards. There were many assignments that allowed us to communicate and practice our Spanish.

With each assignment and activity, I was able to get better communicating in Spanish. These assignments have help me and I have come along way. I was frustrated at first, It was hard trying to get everything right. I learned to not give up and keep trying to communicate in Spanish because no matter what it will get better overtime.

Presentational Speaking

This was a brochure assignment we had to do, in the assignment we were to explain were we would like to go on a vacation and describe it in a brochure.

I enjoyed this assignment. I felt like it made me look deeper in the Spanish culture and what there is fun to do in Spanish speaking countries. I was able to learn more and enjoyed it, the information I learned helped me pick the destination I wanted.

Presentational Writing

This assignment allowed us to read about a person and describe them after. This helped practice reading and witting Spanish. This also prepared us for our Talkboard activity.

I enjoyed this assignment. I believe it helped me practice my reading and writing Spanish and allowed me to work on understanding words I had forgot. This was a great refresher assignment, I found it challenging at first trying to figure out what certain words mean, but eventually I caught on and used my context clues.

Interpretive Listening

There were many videos we watched during the semester that required interpretive listening. In the class, I’ve watched many clips and short films with people speaking Spanish. The video did not have subtitles, so it was very important to understand what is being said in the videos because I had to answer questions relating to the videos.

Every video said different things. I learned new things with every video I watched. In the video below, I learned how to say things about the weather, discuss vacations, describe conditions and emotions with estar, and many more.

Interpretive Reading

There were many readings in the course. I read many articles and different things to help me learn and understand things. Even reading the discussion boards helped me.

I believe being able to read Spanish is just as good as being able to speak it. I think it is very important to be able to read Spanish. It was very challenging at first, but with practice I overcame all of the challenges I faced.
