Top Artifacts

A5

This Artifact is from Module 13 : Culture and Health. I chose this as one of my Top Artifacts because it touched on the topic of “what makes me happy”. In this assignment I had to reflect on different times in my life where I was very happy. Every occasion I thought about involved my family. This exercise made me realize just how important my family is to me. It also made me question myself whether or not happiness can can contribute to a person’s health. I definitely believe that a person who is happy can be healthier. I feel that a happy person will take care of themselves, as opposed to someone who is depressed.  In order to make sure I am happy and healthy, I try to spend as much time with my family as possible.

This Artifact is from Module 5: Enculturation

In this “Items to Archive” section, I had to reflect on how Parenting is relevant to cultures. I also had to determine how my parents’s values influenced the values that I have now.  I chose this Artifact as one of my top five because it was interesting to see how I raise my children, compared to how my parents raised me. I have a connection with this topic because my father and I were very close. He always taught me the importance of having a good character and being a model citizen. Now I see these values in parenting with my own children. In this module, I learned the impact that parents have on their children, whether good or bad.

This Artifact is from Module 7: Culture, Self, and Identity

In this assignment, I had to think about 5 episodes or situations that I experienced in the past and whether or not I used Socially Disengaged Emotions or Socially Engaged Emotions. I had a good connection with this topic because I was able to distinguish between the two.  Some socially engaged emotions I had were experienced during  the holidays or when I am around other people. Usually these are times of happiness. When I have experienced Socially Disengaged Emotions I was going through a time of depression. When I am upset, I tend to keep my emotion inside. I learned to express myself whether I am happy or sad.

A 2

This Artifact is from Module 8: Culture and Personality

In this “Item to Archive” topic I had to think about episodes when my behavior did not match my personality. I usually describe myself as a very kindhearted person. Others will agree as well, but sometimes there is another side of me. If I am ever in a situation when someone is extremely rude to me or a person I really care about. I become very defensive. This is one of my favorite artifacts because i helped me realize how different I can behave apart from my personality.

TA 1

This Artifact is from Module 11: Culture and Emotion

In this exercise I was to use a list of colors and categorize them by how they made me feel. The colors use in this exercise were; black, blue, brown, grey, green, white, yellow, orange, pink, purple, and red. First I had to put the colors into three categories. It was cool to see the comparison between color and emotion.

C1: black, blue, brown, green

C2: Green, white, yellow

C3: orange, pink, purple, and red

Then I had to describe how each of the colors made me feel:

  1. Black= negative
  2. Blue = sadness
  3. Brown = muddy
  4. gray = unclear
  5. green = life
  6. orange = happiness
  7. pink = elegant/ dainty
  8. purple  = hop/faith
  9. red = danger
  10. white = pure
  11. yellow = cheer

This assignment was very interesting to me because i show how simple something as “color” can effect a person’s emotions.
