We invite you to join the <strong>mpark\u2019s Graduate Engagement Program<\/strong> for Fall 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This program creates opportunities for graduate students to follow in the footsteps of previous mpark fellows, and:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Teach workshops<\/strong> in the makerspace, sharing skills such as 3D printing, laser cutting, design software, sewing, electronics, or other creative practices.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Receive mentorship<\/strong> in teaching and curriculum design, with guidance from faculty and makerspace staff.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Build a portfolio<\/strong> of teaching, leadership, and community engagement experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Who can apply<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Graduate students from all disciplines in the College of Arts and Letters are welcome. We will also consider distant-learning students who want to lead digital humanities workshops via Zoom. You do not need prior makerspace or digital humanities experience\u2014just an interest in learning and a willingness to share your expertise. We encourage both those who want to <strong>teach workshops<\/strong> and those who want to <strong>be mentored<\/strong> in makerspace pedagogy.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><strong>Your commitment<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Participate in <strong>at least one makerspace workshop or training session<\/strong> during Fall 2025 or Spring 2026<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contribute either as a workshop leader or as a workshop participant.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engage in the community of practice around teaching and making.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><strong><strong>What you\u2019ll gain<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Hands-on teaching and leadership experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Opportunities for interdisciplinary networking.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mentorship in assignment and curriculum design.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Please submit a brief statement of interest (1\u20132 paragraphs) describing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Your area of study.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The skills you could share in a workshop <strong>or<\/strong> the skills you would like to learn.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your goals for participating in the program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications are due by <strong>Sept 19 to Dr Ola Swatek <\/strong><a href=\"mailto:aswatek@odu.edu\"><strong>aswatek@odu.edu<\/strong><\/a><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Overview Are you a graduate student interested in teaching, mentoring, or expanding your creative skill set?
