This database provides information about what is publicly known about certain breaches. A researcher can use this as a tool to analyze any patterns in the data that could have implications to mean something much deeper than what appears. This should not be the only strategy to research breaches; however, it is a great place to start. To understand current breaches, researchers should have a good foundational understanding of past breaches. For validity, archival research cannot stand alone and should be paired with other methods in collecting data for research.
