Four majors that are offered by Old Dominion University that relate to cybersecurity are Computer Information Sciences, Computer Science, Database Administration, and Information Systems & Technology. If someone wanted to be able to explain how these majors are related to cybersecurity, they must be able to fully understand what cybersecurity exactly is. Cybersecurity is basically computer threats and finding a solution that can help the prevention against cyberattacks and will also keep computer and computer systems protected and secured.  The first one I will explain how it’s related to cybersecurity is Computer Information Sciences. This one is pretty self-explanatory because most cyberattacks are started to steal or destroy computer data and information, leaving this major pretty relevant to ours.  The Computer Information Science major mainly highlights maximizing the speed and security of communications. This major is also a mix of computer and information science, which is why Computer Science is the second major I answered.  The Computer Science major is relevant to ours because it is the study and understanding of computers. Cybersecurity is a part of this field because as I stated above, it is the prevention and protection of computer attacks. The next major that I will explain is relevant to cybersecurity is the Database Administration major.  This major has basically the same role as cybersecurity because their role in the computer world is to keep a database secured and monitored.  The database security is key for this major making it very relevant to cybersecurity. The last major I will go over and discuss is the Information Systems & technology major.  This major mainly highlights the communication and computer systems which ties in with storing, retrieving, and sending digital data and information. With that being stated, you can clearly understand why Computer Information Sciences, Computer Science, Database Administration, and Information Systems & Technology are the four majors I chose to explain and relate to cybersecurity.
