I think the first reasonable scenario is political reasons. Many countries have corrupt governments that suppress citizens birth right to speak up. They leaked videos of the Jan 6 terrorist attack on the capitol and flooded an app that Dallas police was using to spread propaganda during Black Lives Matter, but “Anonymous” the hacking group flooded the app. Yes, it is wrong, but there isn’t harmful intent. The next rank is Multiple reasons, In the article it discussed that people commit cybercrimes from their own psychological behaviors. Some people do not have a sense of rationality that enables the behavior and some people find the ego boost of being able to hack into a professionally built infrastructure. People can also be in a position of declining mental health or financial burdens that drives them to commit cybercrimes. The third rank is for money, everyone in their life tends to have financial struggle that holds them back from succeeding sometimes people just need a few bucks to keep themselves afloat. It is wrong to hack into other peoples bank accounts and wire yourself money, but it doesn’t have a malice intention towards the victim. People need help and government resources only do so much. The fourth rank is Revenge, regarding revenge porn that is very bad and not excusable. For a standpoint towards a corrupt government then it is more acceptable. This is because people are trying to make a change in their society by a suppressive regime. The fifth rank is recognition, Niblock could’ve been trying to make a statement in regards to elections. He could also liked the attention that he was receiving and felt an ego boost from being able to hack into a government officials website. It would make him very notable in the cyber community, but is not acceptable. The sixth rank is Entertainment, doing cybercrimes because you want to laugh is not excusable and can be threatening to peoples data. This poses a security risk to LinkedIn and having to implement new security protocols to ensure safety of consumer data. The last rank is boredom, that is not a good excuse to commit cybercrimes. Is it even worth jail time? There’s no motive expect boredom, but it is not worth the marginal benefits of the consequences.

Personally I don’t believe there is any reason for anyone to commit cybercrimes.
