Over the past two years, I have served as a Research Assistant at the POD Psychology Lab in Mills Godwin Building. Since onboarding the team, I have had the privilege to be mentored under Dr. Still where I have learned a variety of different lab techniques and skills. The Psychology team is depicted below:
Dr. Still- Human Factors Associate Professor and Head of POD Research Lab
Morgan Edwards- Graduate Psychology Student
Alex Katsarakes- Graduate Psychology Student
Current Research Project
Currently, we are conducting a unique Cybersecurity study in the Psychology lab. In the study, we set up the participant at a programed monitor made to simulate an recent onboarding employee. We aim to examine how end-users interact with home computer networks and how to better improve home computer users’ cyber hygiene practices. The study is looking at how end-users interact with home computer systems. The participant is asked to complete surveys and computer training in the lab. After completing the training, the participant will do tasks to determine what they learned from the training. Computer input, such as mouse and keyboard data, is also recorded during the experiment.
A quick sneak peak of how the set up in the lab can be seen below:
