In today’s journal, we will describe four ethical issues that arise when storing electronic information about individuals. In Today’s society, we really live in the digital age. Radio waves, fiber optics, and data cables are some ways we transfer data throughout the world. Trillions of data reaching upon infinite amounts are sent, received, or downloaded each day. There are four ethical issues when it comes to an individual’s data, in short, this is known as PAPA, privacy, accuracy, property, and accessibility.

Privacy: deals with the information about someone or his or her associations, what a person reveals to others or keeps secrets, under what conditions, and with what safeguards? Accuracy: Who is responsible for the authenticity, identity, and accuracy of a person’s information? Similarly, who can be held accountable for errors in information and how is the injured party going to be compensated for the loss or stolen information? Property: Who owns information? What are the just and fair prices for its exchange? Who owns the airways, through which information is transmitted? How should access to this resource be allocated? Accessibility: What information does a person or an organization have a right or a privilege to access about you and under what conditions, are there safeguards put in place? Take a look at Facebook data to hack millions of account pieces of information stolen, your personal data being sold to the highest bidder. Look at Google with your search history then see the ads that pop up on your screen. all your data is being vied, stored, and recorded. information you put as security questions could easily be found through the information you post on social media.
