This was an essay I really enjoyed. The short story made for an interesting reader response analysis. In not acknowledging the race of the girls involved, it has been left up to the reader to make a decision for themselves. If I were to expand on this essay, I would want to look into more of the ways that the readers make assumptions on the text. I only got the chance to examine a couple of moments, and I would like to see things I missed originally.
