Ten Years Ago
Ten years ago, may not have been a long time but for sports social media has drastically changed. I was ten years old, and one thing I remember a lot growing up was my dad always watching football, basketball, or baseball on the television. I would sit, watch, and interact with him. Usually when the reporters come on to talk about the inside of sports, I did not care too much about it. I did not understand stats or even care to try. I was more interested in watching the plays. I did not have a phone at the time and my dad did not know how to work a phone as much. Only time I got to watch sports is when I played tournaments or at home on television.
Present
Now a days it has gotten easier for everyone to access the internet watch games or highlights. Sports evolved and so did social media. What made me realized social media really grew is when in high school, both the softball and basketball teams had a game the same day but to support each other we would secretly watch each other on Facebook live. Because of the many broadcasts and channels the views in sports have gone up. Even like the Super Bowl the viewers went up, the first was 60 million people, now 120.25 million viewers. We got sponsorships and great marketing that’s being thrown out on the social media to where millions of people can watch.
Future
I feel as though the sports industry is already great with more new technology it will definitely be over the roof. The WNBA has already started to get notice, and the viewers has gotten up. Five years from now I’m already knowing they are going to go bigger than they are now. Women sports are coming up and getting bigger. Many has seen it on the Superbowl commercial. Women are the future. More apps will be made, more commercials, streams, broadcast, everything is just going to get bigger and better.
