Being in UNVI 150 for the first six weeks has been very eye-opening to my writing skills. I would say it is a very fast-paced class that I am not used too. We write a journal every class and have essays frequently. I have a few strengths that help boost my grades. I am learning my strengths, weaknesses, and ways to fix them.
Some of my strengths are my thesis was very clear and shows the points that are being discussed. My body paragraph had good details and transition words. Many of my journal articles had very good feedback on the topic that was written about. I did notice an improvement in my sentence structure from my first journal to my first essay.
Although I had some good strengths, I had quite a few weaknesses as well. I placed commas when they were not needed and missed when they were. I also was using the wrong connection between sentences. Things I also noticed when rereading my own essays are, I could elaborate on more details and expand on my conclusion. I do plan to address my errors in my writings because the more journals and papers I realize the mistakes I have made. As well as to keep going to the writing center, because they gave me great tips like writing and having a plan first before typing so it is more organized. I prefer going to the writing center than peer reviews because they are more descriptive in helping. Another way I have been addressing my writing concerns is by learning how to use a comma and semicolon appropriately. I used a website that had me put together independent and dependent clauses together and explained why.
Overall, I am comfortable transitioning into a new educational system. I know within the time my writings will improve if I am consistent with my effort.
