Journal Entry #11: Cybersecurity Analyst

A cybersecurity analyst needs these five skills that come from the social spectrum. They need critical thinking, not only in technology but also in everyday life. It is imperative that a person in cybersecurity learn how to think outside the box, sometimes reality is stranger than fiction. They also need effective communication skills. You can be an introvert or a shy person, but if you can communicate your ideas in a manner that people can understand you, then everything will go well. Another aspects is writing skills. The ability to write in a concise manner is extremely important in this type of environment. Many times you will need to put in writing events and ideas, especially for people that do not have the technological background but hold the funds to achieve the necessities of the organization. An effective writing can be the difference between the organization getting their needs met or not.
Another area is problem solving skills. If you have the ability to solve problems especially critical ones, you can be in this type of environment. There are times that you need to think in the immediate solution to stop whatever is happening and in the long term to avoid similar problems in the future. Last, teamwork which is essential in this type of environment. Many times you will find irritating with certain people but as a professional you will have to rise above that type of situation if you want a harmonious work environment. There are many more skills associate with both cybersecurity and social sciences. Cybersecurity is interdisciplinary and cover a great ranges of themes and areas, the only constant is humans, and where there are humans social sciences are always needed.
