CYSE 270

Linux Systems for Cybersecurity

This course introduces the basic operations in major Linux distros for cybersecurity using both a graphical interface and a command-line interface. Students will learn about the basic installation and configuration, file systems management, shell scripts, and user authentication in Linux systems. The learning outcomes for this course are as follows:

  1. Students should be able to:
    • perform the essential system administration functions in Linux systems
    • write shell scripts to automate tasks in Linux systems
    • perform the necessary security tasks to secure the Linux systems

This course provided me with invaluable information and practice time to learn and grow in confidence in managing Linux. My practices in Kali and Ubuntu Linux also help me understand the different flavors of the Linux Operating System. It also helped me understand some of the tools that are also used in my Digital Forensic class.
