Ethical issues that could arise from storing electronic information individuals is the risk of security breaches that could possibly put the person at risk. For example, a person could use that stolen data to find the names, numbers, and addresses of a person. Another ethical issue is companies giving entities and other companies access to their user data like Facebook did with Cambridge Analytica in 2016 which included personal information. People having unauthorized access to patients’ medical records are ethical issue related to electronically stored information about individuals because hospital employees could use that patient information to sell their information. The safety of devices is another ethical issue because devices can be stolen or lost which put user information in jeopardy. In order to solve that issue companies need to make sure that the passwords are encrypted to make sure that no unauthorized user can access sensitive information and also make sure that there is a protocol to deal with potential threats to sensitive information.
