Workplace deviance is common in all career fields but especially in the cybersecurity field. There are many causes of workplace deviance but the most common one is when an employee feels mistreated by their employers or if they get fired from their job so they retaliate. One example is when an employee gets fired and decides to sell sensitive information to their company’s competitor. Another example would be a disgruntled employee sabotaging the company by making them vulnerable to cyberattacks by shutting down its security setting. There are plenty of ways to prevent workplace deviance and that is by making sure the passwords are only accessible to authorized parties if an employee is fired the company should disable the former employees’ access so they can’t sabotage the company. Cybertechnology has also made it can be difficult to find the person who is sabotaging the company which emboldens the culprit because it would be difficult for them to be caught. Another way to prevent workplace deviance using cyber technology is by making sure that there is constant monitoring of employees to make sure that there isn’t any workplace deviance in the company.
