Making Connections

How I’ve Grown

Old Dominion University’s LeADERS program connects students to courses and real world experiences in the areas of: Leadership, Academic Internship, Diversity, Entrepreneurship, Research, or Service Learning. This LeADERS ePortfolio shares how my experiences in the areas of leadership, entrepreneurship, and diversity have supported my personal and professional development.

Reflecting Back
  • I chose to join LeADERS because I was already taking the coursework and LeADERS gave me an extra incentive to practice being a leader through selecting carefully curated, high-impact courses.
  • I encountered many challenges throughout my courses. I transferred careers, battled burnout, and went through the COVID-19 pandemic but I persevered, cried, rested, and came out on top!
  • I got to do meaningful volunteer work and got an inside look at a different career path through my academic internship. Planning, persistence, and involvement contributed to my success.
  • My specific LeADERS experiences all tie together in the sense that they all had a profound impact on my psyche and have become a tool in my “helping profession and social sciences” arsenal.
Looking Forward
  • After graduation I will have almost 2 weeks off before I begin my M.Ed Education program at Liberty University!
  • My experiences with LeADERS have prepared me because I have a new perspective on my capabilities! I can do anything!
