SCADA( supervisory control and data acquisition) plays a very important role in the the infrastructure system. SCADA is like a monitor for the different systems such as a a alarm for the gas pump or controlling the water flow through different cities. The evolution of the system is amazing and there are components in the SCADA system.
HMI ( human machine Interface )
There are functions such as HMI( human machine interface) which converts the data that is being censored to a graph and allows us to see the amount of fluid pumping through. for example, the HMI can tell you or give you a scale of how much gas is in the car.
RTU( Remote Terminal Unit)
There is also a function that is called the RTU( remote terminal unit) this function converts electrical signals into digital values which in that case can to amount of mileage that your car has until you run out of gas.
Supervisory Station
The supervisory station is the communication portion of the SCADA system. This systems tells the HMI or RTU systems that something might have failed and monitor each sever.
SCADA Example and Overview
The SCADA is extremely important with the business of providing goods and services because without these functions, someone can easily modify the sensors or change the digital value whether it is water flow, gasoline pipes, fire alarms or wind farms. If there aren’t distribution monitors, then the amount that is being distributed for money can be off resulting in low business. For example, is the flow of gasoline isn’t flowing like it should be at a certain gas station, then people will not buy gas from that particular gas station. But the protections that SCADA has as technology revolves like the supervisory or IP(Internet protocol) will help prevent those situations from happening
