Technology is always advancing. There are continuous outpours of different types of computers, including miniature computers like cell phones, that are always being released! As we continue to purchase and utilize these devices, ensuring that they are safe and secure is a crucial step, to prevent/alleviate the ever-looming threat of cybercriminals. But how can we ensure that our computers are safe? How do we know that we have implemented all of the necessary precautions?

Well, the first step to ensuring that your computer is safe is to consistently update your security software programs, as those programs help to protect your computer. When creating passwords for your different accounts, make sure that you are creating strong, difficult-to-guess passwords, that you change every so often. You should also implement 2-factor authentication on all of your devices, to protect against an accidental login or potential hacking attack. Make sure that you are backing up your data or information to protect your information in case of a hardware malfunction or malware attacks. Internet/computer users also need to be aware of the different types of hacking attacks such as phishing, in order to avoid becoming a victim to that. Installing antivirus software such as Norton or McAfee can safeguard against spyware/ransomware and remove viruses from your computer awe well.

Computers have also been crucial in keeping the world safe but have also created more risks as well. Three was that computers have improved safety would be that they have helped to improve communication, created medical/scientific advancements, and improved global security measures. Three ways that computers have decreased safety would be that they are prone to hackers and cybercriminals that try to destroy, steal, or damage intellectual property/information, affected peoples privacy, and created an ongoing, and persistent need for technology, as we as society are completely dependent upon technology.
