Top Artifacts

You will be prompted, weekly, for various items to archive. Please refer to the Google Docs document in the e-Portfolio folder in Bb, which will provide tips on how to store and organize these artifacts. By the time this component of your eP is due, you will have a rich repository from which to draw. You will choose the top five artifacts that you believe best represent your learning experience in this course. Each item should contain a representative picture and a summary for why it was selected, including why it is representative of your learning experience.

Module # 11 Color and Emotion Artifact 3

i chose this topic to archive because i feel that associating emotions with colors is something that everyone has done at least once in their life time. as you can see from the above pictures, i categorized the colors with how they make me feel. i feel that i gravitate more towards the natural colors such as black, browns and greys when i am the most relaxed and i feel at peace. i feel that i probably could’ve added green to that list because it represents life and nature itself but then again i didn’t for a specific reason. after googling what others thought green represented, it was said that it represents like a rebirth. i feel that i found a few associations between the categorization and the result in many ways.

Module #10 Time Artifact 2

i chose this chapter to archive because time is something we cant escape and if i speak for everyone, wish we had more of.  the assignment was to write the amount of time in minutes that we would wait for each specific person. doing this assignment has taught me that we all view time a bit differently depending on various aspects of our lives, culture and how we view relationships being an important role. you see in my culture, we respect the concept of being on time depending on who we’re meeting. for example, going to work whether were punching a time clock or welcoming a client into our space, we try to have everything almost perfect while being on time not a second earlier nor a second less which is why we prepare so early. on the other hand, of we’re meeting someone not of a business related stature, we tend to relax a bit and not worry about first impressions or trying to please our boss. we or atleast i have a “ill get there when i get there” attitude when it comes to social gatherings. no one ever likes to be the first person there.

this chapter has taught me, that everyone’s not like my family and i.  they dont see time and its affects the same way we do. and thats okay. i have come to the realization that every culture has its own specific ways of doing and viewing things.

Module #4 Research Methods Artifact 1

this is a screenshot of the graph which was made comparing the united states and Jamaica and how they compare in terms of Hofstede’s five value dimensions. while the two countries are closely related in the categories of masculinity and power distance, the two main differences are the indulgence factor and individualism. in the power distance dimension, the two rank fairly close on the lower end of the spectrum. they both have a low power distance index which means that people in both countries tend to favor an equal distribution of power while demanding justice if there is an unequal system. in terms of individualism, the two countries vary greatly. Americans tend to enjoy a “loose-knit” society while only looking after immediate relatives and friends while Jamaicans enjoy a “tight-knit” society. in the masculinity dimensions, the two are closely related. they both value achievement and material incentive for success. while they both rank low in the uncertainty avoidance dimension, they both express an uncomfort with uncertainty. according to the graph, Jamaica has no score for long term orientation or indulgence while the united states scores high in indulgence and low in the long term orientation.
