I am proud to be a veteran of the US Nuclear Navy. Performing and later leading complex maintenance and operational activities on advance technological systems is still one of the most gratifying experiences.
I was also fortunate to be offered a developmental role in industrial automation and technology while still working on my education. Learning on the job in highly practical scenarios along with academic reinforcement made me better problem solver, designer, and project manager. I participated in training on multiple PLC platforms, the Citect SCADA (now AVEVA Plant SCADA) development suite, and industrial IT infrastructure in a cross discipline collaborative environment with technicians and engineers. Most excitingly, I was able to lead development of several applications affecting business logistics, training, and operations. Lastly, my most expansive project was the upgrade of simulation software which relied on my knowledge of physics, thermodynamics, computer programming, networking, and operations.
As a member of my local school’s parent teacher association, I hope to inspire and pass on useful knowledge and skills to my daughters generation, a generation whose entire existence is intertwined with technology.
