1.With regard to your chosen seminar topic, what drew you to that particular topic? In choosing this topic, which of your previously taken courses do you anticipate will be most helpful to you in completing your seminar project.
For my seminar topic I chose to do physical and psychological health benefits of physical activity. The reason I chose this topic is because physical activity and exercising has always been a big part of my life. Growing up I always participated in sports, no matter what time of the year it was. I would play baseball, basketball, soccer, track, and even cross country. Unfortunately, I stopped playing sports, so I had to take up something else, and that is where the gym came in. Going to the gym has been something I do upwards of five times a week. While I am there, not only do I lift weights, but I do some form of cardio as well which is usually badminton or basketball. Physical activity has bettered me in many ways, both physically and mentally. That being said, being a science major has come with many different science classes. The class I believe will be the most helpful that I have previously taken would have to be Cell Biology. In Cell biology we learned about some of the many ways that the cells in our body react to different situations and conditions. An example of something we learned in cell biology that has prepared me for this topic is how physical activity can affect your metabolism, which is a physical benefit.
2. What is your assessment of your writing ability at this point? Do you feel well prepared for developing a term paper and oral presentation?
I believe my writing ability at this point of time is fairly good. I have always enjoyed writing and I like to believe that I do a good job at it. One thing that I do know I struggle with is punctuation. I tend to want to put a lot of information into my writing, and that can sometimes lead to me having run on sentences. Despite that, I feel like I am very prepared for a term paper and oral presentation. This is a topic that I love talking about and I have a lot of information on this subject, so I am very ready to talk and write about it. I have also been finding lots of resources and reading through them so when the time comes to begin writing, I will be better prepared.
