Cybersecurity risks in the United States are very similar to most other countries with the same developed infrastructure. The United States has a number of cybersecurity risks. At the government level, the United States has not demonstrated an ability to maintain the security of their systems. Several foreign governments and activist groups have been able to gain access to several different governmental systems. Most notably DHS has been on the receiving end of several attacks and a massive amount of personal information and confidential information was leaked. A country like the UK has been on the receiving end of countless attacks on their government systems. Moving past the cybersecurity threats and risks at the government level, United States businesses experience a massive amount of cybersecurity risks. The risks for a business in the United States are generally the same as any business in the world just due to the universal nature of business. Money and IP are generally the two most valuable targets when it comes to business related cyber attacks and therefore the attacks remain generally homogenous globally. The United States may exhibit higher than normal rates of these attacks solely due to the high volume of large business it is home to. At the base user level, cybersecurity risks will generally remain the same. In developed countries, all users will be at essentially the same risk as long as they practice the general cybersecurity safety guidelines. The typical United States citizen is more prone to cyber attack than a citizen of a third world country but that discrepancy is due to the lack of technology availability in those countries. The cybersecurity risks of the United States are quite similar to those of any other developed country. The only difference is frequency in most of the categories of cyber attacks.
