Below is the information from the slide related to individual motives and cyber offending. Each item has a link attached to it. Review the articles linked with each individual motive. Rank the motives from 1 to 7 as the motives that you think make the most sense (being 1) to the least sense (being 7). Explain why you rank each motive the way you rank it. -bkp
Motivies for cyber offending depend on individuals and crimes. A link to an example of each motive is included.•Entertainment•Political•Revenge•Boredom•Recognition•For money•Multiple reasons
After reviewing the articles of each individual motive I would rank them as, (1) For Money, (2)Revenge, (3)Political, (4)Multiple reasons, (5)Boredom, (6)Entertainment, (7)Recognition. Of Course every situation is different with different reasoning. Typically most individuals go for the money or some type of information that is worth something more than money. In society today money is one of the most powerful things. Revenge is second because anger is very powerful. Political situations are very dangerous because of how high it can affect society and individuals’ everyday lives. Multiple reasons motive is more of an unknown that could have been caused by anything which is very tough to track the reasoning of an individual’s actions. Boredom of course is very dangerous because it is just crazy to think of what a mind can figure out and think of when bored. Entertainment, of course in my opinion, is a kind of silly motive that is not meant to affect anyone in particular. Last but not least, many individuals don’t even want to be caught which makes it hard to even think that individuals act upon recognition.
