NICE Framework

Upon reviewing NICE Workforce framework my top three choices would be Investigate, Securely Provision and Protect and Defend, while the least interesting framework appears to be the very first one on the list, Analyze.

Investigate

The most interesting aspect about the Investigate framework is related to Cyber investigation. One of the abilities listed as required is navigating the dark web using the TOR network. TOR is an open source software that allows anonymous communication. What that means is that you can access websites without revealing your IP address. I must say I was not aware of this software prior to my assignment, but reading on it really opened up my curiosity. Besides using TOR, as part of this framework one is required to examine digital media on different operation systems, and being able to navigate through numerous operation systems is a valuable skill.

Securely Provision

This is the most exciting framework as it would allow me to design, develop and modify software as well as identify bugs and potential security issues. In addition, it would allow me to combine my passion for coding with Cybersecurity knowledge and implement things such as password encryption, authentication, access control based on roles, SSO (Single Sign-on) such as OKTA, 2FA (Two factor authentication). Last but not least, it would also allow me to run tests (unit tests, Mockito tests, E2E tests).

Protect and Defend

The most exciting position related to this framework is Incident Response. Why? Because it requires a calm and composed approach and a necessity for quick and sharp decision-making. A person needs to stay focused under pressure, to identify issues and resolve them in a timely manner. The last part in particular brings and adrenaline rush that I find highly motivating.

Analyze

This particular field does not look interesting to me as it heavily involves writing and reviewing policies, which I find monotonous. The tasks lack the fast-paced nature that I need to stay motivated. I am more productive in roles that are engaging and interactive where I can see the impact of my hard work.
