First of all, Keren, in the video “Hacker Rates 12 Hacking scenes in movies and TV”, presented scenes and really broke down to details what is realistic, and what was just made to look spectacular for the audience. As far as misconceptions go, I’m sure we all had some. Before I started studying Cybersecurity, I had a handful of my own misconceptions. I believed that individuals and small businesses are small fish in the sea and would never be targeted by hackers. My assumption was based on the idea that a small fish is not an interesting fish. Now I know that that is simply not the case. As Keren stated in the video, and as I have learned through studying Cybersecurity, hackers first focus on hacking the environment of the least resistance. Small fish usually don’t have the best means of protection the technology has to offer.

I also remember not taking into account how important physical security is, nor was I considering physical security as part of cybersecurity. Now I am more aware of how crucial it is to prevent unauthorized access, and physical security is just one of the tools to achieve that. As a vivid iPhone user, I thought that Apple devices had stronger security protection and were unlikely to get hacked. At that time, a younger and more naive me would have been shocked if given a chance to read a report published by Apple in December 2023 with the headline: “2.6 Billion Personal Records Compromised by Data Breaches in the Past Two Years.”

Through the studies, I learned that cybersecurity is multi-faceted and requires high vigilance and adaptability. Knowledge of the realities in cybersecurity actually helps to build stronger defenses against ever-evolving threats
