Such investigators could work with the police or any other government agency, or in private companies. This is a job that calls for highly detail-oriented individuals who possess critical thinking, computer background, and knowledge of hardware. On this note, digital forensic investigators turn out to be very vital in investigating cybercrime, fraud, and other various crimes within the digital world.

One of the critical aspects of digital forensics that provides a link with the social sciences is having the investigators understand human behavior. For example, in collecting and analyzing digital evidence, much of the work usually takes the form of uncovering the motivations and actions of persons involved in crime. In this respect, it calls for a great deal of insight into psychology and sociology, since an investigator has to interpret digital footprints so as to build up a correct and comprehensive narrative of events.

Not only has the speaker’s career path used some of the concepts from social sciences, but it also shows tinctures of communication and teamwork—leading components of social sciences.
