- Multiple reasons. It is rarely only one reason for an attack. It usually has to do with money because it could also be a combination of influences from entertainment, revenge, or even boredom.
- For money. When you hear about most attacks it has to do with trying to steal money or stealing information to get to your money.
- Entertainment. Hacking is talked about a lot in entertainment, I feel like attackers get the idea from entertainment and assume it is not that hard or they won’t get caught so they commit the crime.
- Political. I chose this one because the political scene is very intense. They will say or do anything to get what they want.
- Revenge. This one doesn’t have to do with the attacker wanting anything, this is about the attacker trying to get back at the victim. I chose to put this one here because I feel like you have poor self-control if you get mad enough to commit a crime on the internet.
- Boredom. This one is low on my list because I feel like you should never be bored enough to commit a crime but I know if you are bored enough and have some type of influence it could get to that.
7. Recognition. I put this one last because most of the time it is not to get recognized it is more about hurting someone or gaining something like money or fame.
