Entry #5

There are plenty of ways to check if your computer is safe. The first would be to test your settings, it will examine for any potential problems. It will check account passwords and alert you if any account has weak or disables passwords. Accounts with weak passwords are easy prey for hackers. MBSA can also check many other account settings like:  Is your computer set up to get automatic updates? Do you have more than one Administrator account on the computer? Next is to update browser plug-ins. Keeping your browser up to date with the latest version is the safest bet. An outdated plug-in leaves a browser and computer open to attack. If you use a plug-in checker, it will show every plug-in installed and whether it’s up to date. The third option is to test your firewall. Windows and Mac have decent firewalls built in, and many third-party security programs include them. A firewall keeps hackers from seeing your computer online when they’re searching for victims. Even if they know where your computer is, the firewall keeps them out. The world has its ups and downs with computers and their technology. A way they have made the world better is navigation. Things like google maps and gps and they lead us in the right direction which is way easier than using a map and hoping you’re going the right way. GPS can also detect crashes or where traffic is, how long until you will reach your destination and can talk to you so u don’t have to look while driving. Another way is the weather. Weather can now be detected weeks ahead and can warn us of disasters like tornadoes and hurricanes. There’s also ways they have impacted the world in a negative way. Like personal information. Apps like snapchat and Instagram are revolved by people putting out personal information about their life. This can lead to harassment online or hackers finding out personal information to use to get into your data.
