Adolescence
The artifact that I believe is most representative of my learning experience is Exercise 4. This exercise was very immersive in my opinion. Exercise 4 required me to think deeply, make connections, and apply the knowledge that I learned in the course to better understand the movies that I had to watch for the assignment. For the assignment I had to watch two movies, one from a previous generation and the other from the current generation, and make generational comparisons between the two movies. By doing this assignment, the information that I learned in this course was further ingrained into my brain. There’s something about applying what you’ve learned and not just memorizing the information for the sake of a good test score. While these assignments take more effort on the student’s part, it’s quite rewarding in the long run because you are able to truly understand what a certain concept means or what adolescents go through in a specific stage in life and why. Overall, the assignment was a fun one and it made me look at the movies, that I was previously familiar with, in a different light. Now, if I ever watch these movies again I will be knowledgeable about the fact that there are concepts related to adolescent development that are portrayed through these movies and it will be easier to pick them out.
