In my 4 years of school and 1 year working for GFT as an Associate Analyst I have learned skills that are foundational to my learning and development in cybersecurity. These skills include being proficient in technology, understanding and applying governance frameworks, and utilizing teamwork to complete tasks.
Competency
Technology: In my career, I have been able to experiment in sandboxes and labs where I have gained foundational skills that can be applied in a real world setting. Some of these skills include coding with Python and Java, navigating Linux and PowerShell Terminals, and monitoring network traffic.
Governance: A major part of my job as an Associate Analyst at GFT has been working with existing frameworks to develop cybersecurity governance programs. This has included building cybersecurity procedures and standards, developing cyber asset inventories, and completing risk assessments to ensure compliance for industrial control systems. These experiences have helped me take the terms and knowledge I have learned in the classroom and apply them into a real-world setting.
Teamwork: While working with GFT, I have consistently been engaged in a team setting where we are required to output as massive amount of verified data and documents. This has been achieved through constant workshops, brainstorming sessions, and data verification of one another’s work where we collaborate to ensure a high-quality deliverable being delivered to the client.
